Protesters against the war gathered outside the White House

About 100 protesters opposed to the war rallied Monday outside the White House to demand an end to military action the United States in Iraq.

Carrying placards saying “honoring our dead and stop the war” and wreaths of black demonstrators marched some 9.6 kilometers from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in northern Washington to one access to the White House through Lafayette Park.

This march is part of series of rallies taking place across the country to approach the first anniversary of the war in Iraq. U.S. President George W. Bush had declared war on March 20, 2003.

At the rally in the park, the demonstrators succeeded to read the names of fallen U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Iraqi civilians died in the conflict.
