Two in three Britons are opposed to sending troops as reinforcements of some 7 900 troops currently deployed in Iraq by London, according to a poll published Tuesday in The Guardian.

According to the survey, they are 84% believed that if reinforcements were being sent to Iraq - as the intention is given to Prime Minister Tony Blair - they should be used only under British command and in areas controlled by the British.

The survey was conducted by the ICM group with a sample of 1 002 adults between Friday and Sunday.
