The EU publishes its Previon economic growth in 2004
The average growth rate of the economy in 2004 should reach 1.7% in the euro area and 2.0% across the European Union (EU), before stabilizing around 2.4% in 2005, announced the European Commission (EC) in its Spring Economic Previon published Wednesday.

The economy of the European Union “does not fully take part in the acceleration of global growth,” said Pedro Solbes, EU Commissioner for Economic Affairs in presenting to the press these forecasts.
The resumption of the EU economy is based on particular accommodative macroeconomic policies, a continuation of disinflation, financing conditions favorbles and progress in structural reforms, according to the EC.
The Commission has indicated that the recovery would rely also on an increase in capital spending, and she even encouraged by a recovery, more gradual, private consumption.
The EC also said that “macroeconomic imbalances former” American economy “may slow growth” next year as rising oil prices and other commodities could also slowing global growth.
The Commission foresees a slowdown in the rate of unemployment expected to rise 8.8% this year to 8.6% in 2005. Inflation should remain below the 2% ceiling set by the European Central Bank, to 1.8% on average this year and 1.6% in 2005
