Iran softens its stance on the resumption of uranium enrichment

Iran mild Saturday afternoon, its threat to resume uranium enrichment, saying it was not questoin in the near future.

“We do not intend to conduct enrichment for the moment and no decision to resume enrichment has been taken, but we will reconsider the decision to suspend other activities,” said Hassan Rowhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security, was quoted by the official news agency IRNA.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian official had issued the threat at a press conference, saying: “Iran will reconsider its decision to suspend uranium enrichment.” The Iranian authorities and expressed their displeasure vis-à-vis European countries, according to Tehran, have not kept their commitments to help close its nuclear dossier in June

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted Friday at a meeting of its Governing Council, a resolution submitted by France, Germany and Britain, recognizing Tehran’s cooperation but demanding more transparency.

The resolution also calls on Iran to make a new freeze on construction of the heavy water reactor at Arak and the uranium conversion at Isfahan.
