Wen Jiabao made the remarks when meeting with foreign ministers from Asian countries who gathered in Qingdao, a coastal city in eastern Shandong province, to attend the 3rd meeting of foreign ministers of ‘Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

There is a long history of exchanges and cooperation among Asian countries, said Chinese Premier, adding that with the rapid development of economic globalization and regional integration, the interests of Asian countries have been linked more closely, and that developing Asia would contribute to peace and prosperity of the world.

Wen noted that since its establishment two years ago, the ACD has selected 10 areas for strengthening cooperation among Asian countries. Asian countries have deepened mutual understanding through the mechanism of ACD, which had created a solid foundation for expanding cooperation between them in the future, he said.

“China, an Asian, is willing to strengthen cooperation with other Asian countries to realize common development and prosperity,” Wen Jiabao noted.

The 3rd meeting of foreign ministers from the ACD will issue a Declaration on Asian Cooperation, and Qingdao Initiative, a document on cooperation in energy.

“I am satisfied that both documents would make a great contribution to cooperation in Asia,” Wen said.
